Meet our Agriculture Specialist
(based out of Community Futures Central Kootenay in Nelson)
Tracey Fredrickson has extensive experience as a small business consultant, specializing in agriculture and agri-tourism. Her background includes many years working as a journalist, marketer and business consultant in Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley including full time positions with major publications, Chambers of Commerce and the Business Development Bank of Canada.
Tracey was contracted by the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission to launch its Business Enhancement Program in 2002 and spent 15 years assisting hundreds of businesses in diverse sectors with business planning, and connections to information and resources. Since 2012 she worked increasingly with farm operators including mentoring/coaching them through the business planning process and coordinating informational workshops customized to their needs. In 2017, the Commission’s agriculture programming was recognized as a provincial best by the Union of BC Municipalities.
Tracey joined Columbia Basin Trust’s BBA program in 2018 to provide business advisor services specifically to the agriculture community in the Columbia Basin region. She takes a highly customized approach to helping agricultural operators identify and address barriers to growth, develop business planning skills, and implement viable action plans. She understands first-hand the challenges and rewards associated with business ownership and thrives on helping entrepreneurs achieve their goals.
