About

The Basin Business Advisors Program (BBA) provides free, confidential one-to-one business counselling and assessment services to existing businesses, social enterprises and agriculture producers throughout the Columbia Basin.

Our mission is to build economic capacity in Basin communities by strengthening and supporting business owners—helping them identify issues and opportunities for continued success and future growth.

Since the program’s inception in 2000, the BBA has worked with over 1,500 Basin businesses.

How We Support Basin Businesses

In addition to meeting with Business Advisors one-to-one, participants in the BBA program will have an opportunity to:

  • attend free business workshops;
  • connect with community partners;
  • access business resources, and;
  • possibly work with a specialized consultant.

Who Are We?

Our team of dedicated Advisors is made up of Basin residents who have extensive experience in business ownership, management and/or business development. They are deeply committed to supporting Basin business and work collaboratively, when necessary, drawing upon each other’s strengths, to help business owners identify issues and opportunities.

The BBA Program supports the agriculture sector by providing advisement on the business of agriculture with a dedicated Agriculture Specialist Advisor.

Specialized Consulting Advice

Participants in the program may receive the recommendation from their Advisor for a specialized independent business consultant to provide further analysis and recommendations. The BBA program provides a contribution to the cost of specialized business consulting services.

Funded by Columbia Basin Trust, the BBA program is administered and managed by Community Futures Central Kootenay.
