Whether it is to take over from a family member, acquiring to expand existing operations or to enter a new field, buying a business is a big decision. There are many factors to consider, such as property, equipment and inventory evaluation as well as reputation, employees and financing. It is important to do your research and business planning to avoid potential pitfalls and ensure that the business you are considering purchasing is the right fit for you and the right price.

The Basin Business Advisor Program’s Buying a Business Workshop can help you prepare. It is designed to guide you through the process and answer some of your questions in a two-hour period.

We will review:

  • Self assessment – is this business purchase right for you?
  • Business valuation – is a business priced appropriately? What are you buying?
  • Process to buy a business – analysis, making the offer and legalities.

Workshop Cost: Free

There is no cost to attend but space is limited and pre-registration is required. This workshop is available to residents of the Columbia Basin. Not sure if you are in the region? Check out our map.

Workshop Delivery: Online

This workshop is delivered virtually using Zoom. You will need a Zoom account and access to a computer with video, sound, microphone and ideally a webcam. Learn about Zoom here.

This is a 2-Hour workshop.  Please note start time 9:00 am Pacific time (Nelson, Creston, Trail, Rossland, Revelstoke, etc), 10 am Mountain time (Cranbrook, Invermere, Fernie, etc)
